We ask that your artwork be framed. You can have that done here, in our own frameshop if you wish, but that isn't a requirement. While we would appreciate the business, we fully understand that custom picture framing, while desirable, can be expensive and that it may not be possible for you to have that done for every picture that you wish to display. |
While certain framing choices are subjective, we would be grateful if you would do your best to mount and frame your pieces as attractively and professionally as possible. After all, framing is a large part of our business and any poorly done framing would reflect badly on us. |
We also insist that each frame have a wire securely attached to the back for hanging. This is essential for the safe hanging of your artwork and we would appreciate it if you would be certain to have this done before you bring your artwork into the gallery.
Artwork that is, by it's very nature, not displayed by hanging (sculpture, for instance) need not have a wire on the back. |
We ask that you provide us with the names of the people on your mailing list (subject, of course, to their approval) so that we may add them to our mailing list. |
When you bring in your artwork we will fill out a consignment agreement that specifies all of the pertinent information that both you and the gallery will need. Names, dates, contact information, the duration of the show, the titles and media of your artwork, the price that you want to receive should your work sell and the price that we will be selling them for will all be listed. You will then be given a copy for your own records.
At the time of signing the consignment agreement we ask that each artist pay $50 to Two Dogs Gallery as the fee for showing their artwork in the gallery. This fee helps us to defray the cost of the opening reception. |
If you would like to feature a photograph of your artwork in our website's Gallery section, during your exhibition, that option is available. The cost is $20 per photograph if sent by email or $25 if sent by postal mail. Contact us if you are interested in this option. |
We require that you agree to leave your artwork on display for the full duration of the show. Removing pieces for any reason, other than their having been sold, creates certain logistical problems that we would prefer to avoid. |
Two Dogs Gallery receives 1/3 (33.3%) of the selling price. You receive 2/3 (66.6%). An easy way to picture this is that, whatever you want to be paid for your artwork, we add 50% of that amount to arrive at the final retail price. For instance, if you want $100 we add $50 to that and sell your work for $150. |
When you pick up your remaining artwork at the end of the run of the show we will give you a check for your share of whatever has been sold.
We charge sales tax on each sale because we are responsible for paying this amount to the Board of Equalization. |
If you wish your prices to be negotiable (in case a potential buyer should ask) we can add that stipulation to the consignment agreement and specify just how much you may be willing to reduce your asking price in order to achieve a sale. If you don't wish to lower your asking price you certainly don't have to do so. |
We expect each artist to attend the opening reception. Potential buyers are always anxious to meet and speak with the person who has created a piece that interests them. |
When the show is over we would appreciate it if you would pick up any unsold artwork in a timely fashion so that we may prepare the gallery for the next show.

Showcase Policy |
The facilities at Two Dogs Gallery are available for exclusive showcases for individual artists or groups of artists wishing to exhibit their artwork for a one-night show.
In addition to providing the display space we will send out press releases to all the local newspapers and websites and invite everyone on our extensive e-mail list to attend your show unless you would prefere to invite only the people on your own guest list. |
We will provide the refreshments for your reception or you may bring in whatever you choose for your guests. |
The basic cost of this service is $900 including food and wine. Should you wish to provide you own refreshments the price will be $500. |
Two Dogs Gallery will take a 25% commission on any artwork that is sold during the showcase.
We will set up everything beforehand and we will do the cleaning up afterwards. |
In order to coordinate your showcase we will need sufficient notice so that we are able to adjust our schedule to be certain that your show will not conflict with any of our regular gallery shows. With enough advance preparation we can work out all of the necessary details well in advance of your event. |
If you are interested in having us host such an event for yourself or for another artist please contact us so that we may discuss all of the pertinent details. |
